Day of Reckoning

League Basics

  • League fees $70 due yearly by April 1
  • You may own one team in this league
  • Roster size:  24 in season (cut down date end of August)  26 off season (Jan 1)
  • 12 week regular season (W13 is Search and Rescue Week- rules below)
  • League has a "Toxic Team" component (rules below)
  • 3 IR spots
  • Payouts by the Commissioner will be made within 2 weeks from the Thursday's official scoring date used by MFL

Rosters and Lineups

All teams may roster up to 24 players and 3 IR players during the season.  At seasons end (no later than Jan 1) rosters will be raised to 26.  Players will be locked at the start of their games.  No roster will carry a Kicker or Defense. Starting lineups cannot have players on bye, injured inactive or suspended.

  • 9 Starters Weekly
  • 1QB
  • 1RB
  • 1WR
  • 1TE
  • 5 Flex  (including 1 Superflex QB)

Toxic Team Component

Each owner will play all teams once and one team twice.  The team you play twice becomes your Toxic Team.  All teams will play their Toxic Team in week 12.  When you play your Toxic Team you pick a player you want double pointed.  The commish will manually adjust scores to reflect this point change and standings will reflect such change. Each team will declare their double pointed player in a thread made on our MFL site prior to their match up.  This includes Thursday/Monday night and international games.  In the event a team does not declare a double pointed player the commish will add the points earned by your lowest scoring player in week 12.

Search and Rescue Bowl (Week 13)

During week 13 you will play an opponent that will be determined by a randomizer.  Once the commish runs this randomizer the first team listed will play the 2nd team listed on the randomizer list.  The 3rd team listed will play the 4th team listed etc.  Each team that wins their Search and Rescue match up will be awarded a $20 payout.

Injured Reserve

IR 3 per team. They must be on MFL and NFL actual IR lists to qualify. Each IR player must be placed on their regular season roster by Feb 1 of each year. Penalty for not meeting this deadline will result in 10 less BBID bucks during the regular season for each day the player is not removed from IR.  If you have not removed the player from IR during week 13 by Feb 15th you will lose said player. You can trade an IR player. It will be up to the new owner to place that player on IR or not. You can drop an IR player during the season and place a new player in that IR roster spot. Once you place a player on IR he will remain there for the entire year unless the NFL & MFL software deem them active. If the NFL returns the player to an active status so must the owner. If the NFL keeps them inactive your player will be inactive and cannot return to your active roster.

Weekly Standings

Our league will use Victory Points (VPs) to determine our regular season standings.  Six teams with the highest VP totals will earn a spot in the Playoffs

Victory points are calculated weekly by your teams performance. Tiebreakers should 2 teams have the same number of VPs at season end for our playoffs are broken by Win Pct., then Points For and lastly Points Against.

2 VPs for each win and 0 VPs for each loss.  Ties will earn 1 VP per team.  Additionally teams may earn VPs by scoring  in the top 1/3 and middle 1/3 as listed:

  • 2 Points for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th in total points scored for the week
  • 1 Point for 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th in total points scored for the week
  • 0 Points for 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th

Our league uses conditional blind bid waivers and first come first serve options.   During the season our BBID waivers will process at 5 am est. on Thursday. If your roster it at the limit allowed you may need to drop a player to make room for the new player. In season the tiebreaker will be reverse order of VPs.  During the off season there are no standings to direct our tiebreaker.  During these times the tiebreaker will be earliest bid entered weekly. FCFS will open on Thursday morning (see calendar for times) and end Sunday at 1 PM est. Teams will be given $100 BBID dollars at the beginning of each season.  If you have remaining dollars from our summer bidding  (off season) months they will be erased and not carried over.  So use them or lose them!  Blind bid dollars are allowed to be traded.

Conditional bidding allows an owner to bid on player A and if not awarded, then bid on player B. Note that in Conditional Bidding you would enter players in multiple groups in order to receive several players, but the Groups are merely placeholders for these bids and have no weighted value. So players in group 1 have no higher priority than those in group 2. It is based on higher bid amounts.

This league will have the following waiver periods:

1. Off-Season (No Waivers allowed/Trades are 100% allowed) This will start at the end of December yearly and will run until the conclusion of the annual Rookie/Free Agent draft.  There will be no BBid or FC/FS waivers during this period.  Rosters will be expanded to 26 players during this period and trading will be allowed.  The normal pay as you trade policy will be in effect for any future drafts picks that may be traded.

2. Pre-Season (BBid Waivers and Trades allowed)- Pre-Season waivers will start on the first Thursday following the conclusion of our Rookie/Free Agent draft and will end at the start of the NFL regular season.  Each team will be given $100 BBid bucks to use at their discretion for the Pre-Season waiver period.  Minimum bid will be $0.  There will be no FC/FS waivers during this period.  Rosters will remain at 26 players for most of the period.  3-10 days prior to the start of the NFL season, rosters will be required to be cut to 24 players.  Again, the normal pay as you trade policy will be in effect for any future drafts picks that may be traded.

3. In-Season (BBID, FC/FS, & Trades allowed) - In-Season waivers will begin the first Thursday after week 1 at 5 AM ET and will continue through Dec 31.  Each team will be given $100 BBid bidding bucks to be used at their discretion for the In-Season waiver period.  Minimum bid will be $0.  FC/FS waivers will begin Week 1 after BBID waivers run (see calendar for times) and  will be available for the rest of the week until the start of the Sunday NFL games.  Players that play in a Thursday/Saturday game will be locked at the start of those games. (if MFL does not allow the locking of these players on the free agency market you will be on the honor system as to not pick up players from these games as the intent is to have them locked)  Rosters will remain at 24 players and pay as you trade is also in effect during this period.

During the regular season once a player is dropped he will not be available until the next BBID waiver run process.  He will not be on FCFS immediately.

No BBID carry over to the next year or next period.  For example if you have $35 left on your pre-season bidding bucks your balance is erased when the IN-season BBID begins so everyone is on an even playing field once again for the season.

Missed Lineup

1st offense.  Remain in the league.  Missed lineup 2nd offense-Commissioner may choose removal from the league.  This will be without refund.

Commish will set a lineup prior to game time or as soon as she notices a missed lineup.  Prior weeks players will be used with the exception of "bye" week players.  They will be replaced with FBG's, FGuru or another sites highest ranking players that week.  For example-  I own RRice SJax Bradshaw Jacobs and Caddy.  In week 4 I started RRice and Sjax. Week 5 I miss my lineup.  RRice is on bye in week 5.  SJax gets put in automatically and Bradshaw was listed as the #15th best RB to start in Week 5.   That is the replacement player because remaining RBs were ranked after #15.   NO PLAYERS WILL EVER BE DROPPED to make a lineup.  Also when Thursday games begin those players are exempt from your lineup as an ad player by the commish unless you started the player in the prior week.  If they were not started the prior week they will not be added to your lineup.  For example - Week 4 Roddy was on bye and not in my lineup.  He plays Week 5 on Thursday.  I missed my lineup Week 5 he is not an eligible player to be put in by the commish.   This rule must exist because we do not want guys skipping lineups on Thursdays and setting them on Sundays only to use this to an advantage.

Annual Rookie/Free Agency Draft (6 Rounds)

Each year in the off season we will hold a rookie draft (May/June) for the rookies entering the NFL.  The draft timer will be 12 hrs. to help accommodate for different time zones and sleeping hours.  The timer will not shut off.  During this draft you may also choose free agent players (aka vets).

Teams can participate in as many rounds as they choose (0-6 rounds) Your roster may not exceed the 26 player limit.  You may need to make drops to be align as such.    Dropped players will be locked during the draft.

There will be a thread made to “Declare your draft complete” once you determine your draft is done.  Once you post in this thread you may not re-enter the draft.  I will then “skip” your pick so other teammates can resume their drafts.  If you time out during rounds 4-6  you will not be able to re-enter draft.  Your draft will be COMPLETE.  If you time out during the draft in rounds 1-3 the draft will continue and you will be able to post your pick in a message thread as soon as you arrive.

The initial round's draft order will be reverse order of VP's from the previous regular season with winning pct and then points scored being tie breakers for the first 6 draft spots.  1st place gets 1.12 2nd place 1.11 3rd place 1.10 4th place 1.09  5th place 1.07 6th place 1.08  The order will remain for all the rounds.

ALL PLAYERS after our rookie/FA draft will be considered Free Agents and available for BBID Waivers.

Championship Playoff

  • 6 Teams will make the playoffs.  2 division winners and the next 4 highest VP totals in the regular season. The six teams are seeded according to their VP total.  If there is a tie in VP rankings we will use our standings setup tiebreaker listed above under STANDINGS,SETUP.....etc.  Both division winners earn a 1st round bye. For week 1 of the playoffs seed 3 vs.6 and seed 4 vs. 5  In week 2 of the playoffs the #1 seed will play the lowest seed remaining.
  • Playoffs are weeks 14, 15 & 16
  • TIE DURING A PLAYOFF game will be broken by highest scoring player on each teams roster in that matchup.  If a 2nd tiebreaker is needed the 2nd highest score from each team will determine the winner.

Consolation Bowl Playoff

  • The remaining lower six teams will be placed in a consolation bowl bracket based on highest VPs to lowest VPs.Two highest seeds will earn a bye. Seed 3 vs. 6 and seed 4 vs 5.  Reseeding will be done after each round allowing the highest seed reamining to play the lowest seed remaining.

Trade Deadline

Trade deadline will be Thursday at a time prior to week 13 NFL games.  (see calendar for time) This is prior to our Search & Rescue matchup.  Any trades involving rounds 1-3 of the future year must be paid prior to the trade being executed.  If you are trading rounds 4-6 no payment needed.  Trading will reopen Jan 1 yearly.

Dispersal Draft

If our league experiences multiple owners leaving the league the commissioner has the right to hold a dispersal draft for the open teams.  She may include current teams in the dispersal if they choose to be included and have not participated in a dispersal for 2 prior seasons.  I.E.   Shirley begins the league in 2018.  She cannot participate in a dispersal draft until 2021's season.  Any alterations to this rule will require a league vote.

Rule Changes

In season rule changes require 100% approval.  Off season rule changes require a passing vote of 7 owners.  Each year beginning January 1 an owner may propose a rule change.  Once a message thread is made discussion can take place amongst owners.  The commissioner will determine if there is enough interest in polling the change.  Rules/Bylaws will be updated upon poll outcome.  The commissioner has the right to decline a rule change request.
